Stop the BP bailout

BP wants you to foot the bill for their oil disaster. If we don’t act quickly, BP will only have to pay the first $75 million in cleanup and damages. I can’t imagine some of the people whom I’ve met paying to clean up the very same oil that cost them everything.

The Senate is considering doing away with the liability cap for companies like BP whose irresponsibility destroys American livelihoods. This will ensure BP is held accountable for any and all damages that result from this tragedy.

Join us in signing our petition to the Senate, demanding they eliminate the liability cap and make BP pay every penny.

Tell the Senate you don’t want your tax dollars bailing out BP. Sign our petition to the Senate to eliminate the liability cap for big oil companies.

I’ve been involved with Freecycle for several years now and not only have I seen first-hand the good they’ve done in my own community, they also impact the lives of people worldwide. The Freecycle Network now has over 6 million members all over the world and keeps 24,000 items out of landfills every single day. They are currently in the running for a $250K grant from Pepsi that would allow them to expand the technology that powers this global gifting network. I want a Peapod!

How is this for adorable? If you are looking for an affordable and eco-friendly way to get around town, check out the Peapod Neighborhood Electric Vehicle. With a range of approximately 30 miles on a single charge, room for 4 passengers, built-in docking station for your iPod or iPhone, and a starting price of only $12,500, the Peapod has something for everyone. If you’re like me, most of your daily driving is local so the 30 mile range would be no problem. Slightly more problematic is the maximum operating speed of 35 mph but even so, the Peapod would be an excellent choice for errands around town. It couldn’t completely replace a standard vehicle but I’m thinking that if I had a Peapod, I could use it for the vast majority of my driving and cut my standard vehicle usage down to no more than 1 or 2 days a week. It’s a great way to do something good for the environment and it’s adorable too…a win-win situation!
